Република Молдовеняскэ Нистрянэ
Приднестровская Молдавская Республика
Pridnestrovian Moldavian Republic
Trans-Dniester Republican Bank
Care: This is a fake commemorative note, aka home made. Some mothers do 'ave 'em!
This One ruble note is issued to celebrate the Victory Day (09.05.1945) following the surrender of the Nazi Germany and the signing of the surrendering agreement ceremony in Berlin on 08.05.1945. The signing occurred late in the evening in Berlin but it was after midnight in Moscow time, thus the day is celebrated on May 9 instead of May 8. Moldova (and Transdniestria) was then part of the Soviet Union empire and thus the celebration. May 9 is a public holiday in both Moldova and Transdniestria as well as in Russia, which is also the biggest Russian holiday.
One Ruble
Hi,
ReplyDeleteHope that you’re doing well.
I found on your webpage two new Transnistrian note that were issued in connection with 23rd February - Fatherland Protection Day (in the past it was a Red Army Day since February 23, 1918).
Please note that the overprint on those notes was not made by Transnistrian Central Bank. Please pay attention to the serial numbers of the notes pictured on your webpage: EK 3473103 and EK 3473002 the difference between serial numbers is just 101. Transnistrian Central Bank printed a short series of commemorative notes (last few just 1.500 pcs per note) and offer them to the public in special folders (all commemorative notes since 2009 were issued in folders) – all commemorative notes has a special prefixes and serial numbers started from 0000001. Of course the notes are original – but they are just regular P#42b.
As far as I know they were printed by some guys in Ukraine.
As you mentioned in one of your comments - there is always a sucker around the corner...

Hi KS
DeleteThank you for your comment. Yes, I found out that these were fake overprints before realising that you have alerted me too on this. When I first found out that these were fake, I removed this post plus another one and today I saw your comment and decided to repost this with your comment. You are right to say that the Transdniestria only issued genuine commemorative banknotes with special prefix and low serial numbers. I got a bit suspicious when I realise the high serial numbers printed on the notes and they are printed on the same batch with difference commemorative overprints. I should have known but unfortunately, this sucker got caught again. Once again, thanks for your comment. Much appreciated it.
Cheers
