The Hungarian revolution started on 23.10.1956 with university students demonstrated by marching through the streets of Budapest to the Parliament House. The revolution ended on 10.11.1956 when the Soviet force invaded the country on 4.11.1956. The resistance continued until the 10.11.1956. More that 3,000 people, both civilians and Soviet troops, died in the conflict. To day in Hungary, 23rd of October is declared a public holiday.
