Taiwan - 100 Yuan 3 Uncut Sheet Comm 100th Year of the Republic of China
One Hundred Yuan, ND6.1.2011 P998
Three Uncut Sheet
The above note was first released in 2000. This new note is now overprinted to celebrate the 100th year of the founding of the Republic of China, following the Chinese revolution that started on 10.10.1911. The revolution was started during the Wuchang Uprising (Hebei province) which led to the collapse of the Qing Dynasty and the establishment of the Republic of China. The interesting story was that the uprising started purely by accident when a bomb built by the revolutionaries exploded in the Russian concession of the city. This led to police to investigate and discovered list of Literary Society members in the Qing Dynasty army. Knowingly that these members will certainly face arrested and execution, they staged a coup immediately. The local official panicked and fled and the army took over the city in less than a day. The revolutionaries then telegraphed other provinces asking them to declare their independence and within six weeks, 15 provinces had seceded. The revolution did not end until 12.2.1912 following the abdication of the last Emperor of China.
Whilst this note depicts Dr Sun Yat-sen, it should be noted that Dr Sun has nothing to do with the uprising, as he was visiting in the US then. He only found out the uprising following a report on the local newspaper in US. Following the uprising, the revolutionaries realized that they needed a high ranking officer to be their figurehead leader. Li Yuanhong, a General in the Qing Army, was then forced at gun point to lead the revolutionaries. General Li initially was reluctant to accept but later agreed when he saw the growing momentum of the uprising. On 1.1.2012, Dr Sun Yat-sen was appointed as the first Provisional President with Li Yuanhong as his Vice President. Following a successful negotiation with General Yuan Shikai, Dr Sun stepped down as the Provisional President in favour of General Yuan, who was appointed as the Provisional President on 14.2.1912 with Li Yuanhong as his Vice President.
In Taiwan the uprising is known as Double Ten (++) and in China, Hong Kong and Macau, this day is known as the Anniversary of Xinhai.

Jamaica - $50 2010 Commemorative Central Bank 50th Anniversary
This note was released on 15.11.2010 to commemorate the 50th Anniversary of the Bank of Jamaica. It should be noted that the actual anniversary celebrations should begin in May 2011, however since the Bank of Jamaica Act was passed in October 1960, and as such the note is released in 2010. The BoJ did not open its door for business until May 1961. The new note is a limited addition and is signed by BoJ Governor Brian Wynter. The obverse design of this note is similar to the existing J$50 note but with the overprint of “50th anniversary and 1960-2010” logo.
On the reverse side of the commemorative note is completely difference from the existing $50 note. The BoJ building situated at Nethersole Place is the main feature of the design replacing the usual Doctors Cave Beach vignette.

Guinea - 1000, 5000 and 10000 Francs 2010 Commemorative
I have added the two varieties for the 1000 and 5000 Francs commemorative notes. I have listed them with the references of P43b and P44b for ease of identification. The difference between these two are the two sets of serial numbers printed on the notes. On the bottom left hand side, the first print (P43a & P44a), you can see that the two letter prefixes printed are slightly taller (about 4mm) than the numerals (about 3.5mm height), whilst the same set of serial numbers for the second print (P43b & P44b) for the same denomination are all having the same height (all about 4mm height). Also the fonts for the serial numbers for both prints are not the same either. This is very obvious that these notes were printed by two difference security firms. The prints for P43a and P44a both have the Cornerstone features, which is a registered trademark of De La Rue since 2001. The purpose of the Cornerstone feature is to strengthen the corners of the note (to prevent the corners from folds or bends) which has been a problem for ATMs. However no other variety has been reported yet for the 10000 Francs piece.
