Total commemorative banknotes issued is under 1,500 pieces. If you have achieved any figures close to this, then you are doing extremely well, as many of the older commemorative notes are hard to find even in poor conditions.

Opinion: Many collectors of commemorative banknotes would have come across with those Somaliland sets overprinted with gold and silver texts with the following wordings - 5th Anniversary of Independence 18 May 1996 [Sanad Gurade 5ee Gobanimadda 18 May 1996]. I believe these are "home made" (or fake) and not authorised by the central bank. My argument is simple. No central bank would have issued an overprint commemorative banknote that the texts are so large that it would cover the two signatures on the note as well as part of the serial numbers. Even if these are genuine notes, then these could be issued as souvenir sheets and not as legal tender. As I said before, this is my opinion. If you have paid top dollars for these, please think about my argument. There is always a sucker around the corner, including me of course!

All comments are most welcome but it has to be subjects related to banknotes or banknotes collection. If not, it will not be approved. Thanks

Mexico - 200 Pesos 25th Anniversary of the Autonomy of Banco de Mexico 1994-2019 Commemorative

Estados Unidos Mexicanos
(United Mexican States)

Banco de Mexico
(Bank of Mexico)
Currency : Peso (MXN)

Here is a complete set of Mexico 200 pesos issued on 02.09.2019 commemorating the 25th Anniversary of the Autonomy of Banco de Mexico 1994-2019. The design of the notes are the same as those issued previously except the commemorative texts are added to the note under the bank's name - 25 Aniversario de la Autonomia 1994-2019.

What does the autonomy means to the bank? It means that the Bank of Mexico has the autonomy in managing the country's money supply, credit policy and requires staggered terms for members of the bank's governing body, so as to prevent selection of a majority during the term of any one Mexican president. It also means that the bank does not have to take instructions from the government of the day for printing more money to pay for the deficits, just like the United States and Germany. Independence also means less pressure from politicians too.

Design
Front; Campana de Dolores (Bell of Dolores) which was used to call upon the population and start the independence movement in Dolores Hidaigo, Don Miguel Gregorio Antonio Francisco Ignacio Hidalgo-Costilla y Gallaga Mandarte Villaseñor (priest 1753-1811) who started the Mexico's War of Independence in Dolores Hidaigo and José María Teclo Morelos Pérez y Pavón (1765-1815) who assumed the leadership of the independent movement after the death of Hidalgo;

Back; royal eagle, Biosphere of El Pinacate (desert) and Gran Deserto de Altar in Sonora UNESCO World Heritage site.
