Total commemorative banknotes issued is under 1,500 pieces. If you have achieved any figures close to this, then you are doing extremely well, as many of the older commemorative notes are hard to find even in poor conditions.

Opinion: Many collectors of commemorative banknotes would have come across with those Somaliland sets overprinted with gold and silver texts with the following wordings - 5th Anniversary of Independence 18 May 1996 [Sanad Gurade 5ee Gobanimadda 18 May 1996]. I believe these are "home made" (or fake) and not authorised by the central bank. My argument is simple. No central bank would have issued an overprint commemorative banknote that the texts are so large that it would cover the two signatures on the note as well as part of the serial numbers. Even if these are genuine notes, then these could be issued as souvenir sheets and not as legal tender. As I said before, this is my opinion. If you have paid top dollars for these, please think about my argument. There is always a sucker around the corner, including me of course!

All comments are most welcome but it has to be subjects related to banknotes or banknotes collection. If not, it will not be approved. Thanks

...Bangladesh - 50 Taka 2022 Celebrating the Country First High Speed Dhaka Metro Rail

  গণপ্রজাতন্ত্রী বাংলাদেশ
(Peoples' Republic of Bangladesh)

বাংলাদেশ ব্যাংক
(Bangladesh Bank)
Currency : Taka (BDT)

This is a commemorative note of 50 taka, released on 28.12.2022, celebrating the opening of the country's first High Speed rail metro in the capital city of Dhaka. This High Speed rail metro system was inaugurated on 28.12.2022 by the Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, and this transportation system is to improve and ease the traffic congestion in the capital city of Dhaka. Dhaka has a population in excess of 23 millions. Obviously, it is a very crowded city and such systems would definitely improve traveling times for the city commuters.

The commemorative note is issued at face value, however, it also comes with a folder in both English or Bangla/Bengali, and sold at 100 taka per set.

As this is a commemorative note, the design of the note includes the image of the current Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina Wazed. This is the second banknote issued with her image on it. Sheikh Hasina Wazed was the Prime Minister of Bangladesh from 1996 to 2001, and again since 2009. Sheikh Hasina Wazed is also the eldest daughter of Sheikh Mujibur Rahman (b.1920-1972), who was the first Prime Minister of Bangladesh until he was assassinated in office in 1972.
