Total commemorative banknotes issued is under 1,500 pieces. If you have achieved any figures close to this, then you are doing extremely well, as many of the older commemorative notes are hard to find even in poor conditions.

Opinion: Many collectors of commemorative banknotes would have come across with those Somaliland sets overprinted with gold and silver texts with the following wordings - 5th Anniversary of Independence 18 May 1996 [Sanad Gurade 5ee Gobanimadda 18 May 1996]. I believe these are "home made" (or fake) and not authorised by the central bank. My argument is simple. No central bank would have issued an overprint commemorative banknote that the texts are so large that it would cover the two signatures on the note as well as part of the serial numbers. Even if these are genuine notes, then these could be issued as souvenir sheets and not as legal tender. As I said before, this is my opinion. If you have paid top dollars for these, please think about my argument. There is always a sucker around the corner, including me of course!

All comments are most welcome but it has to be subjects related to banknotes or banknotes collection. If not, it will not be approved. Thanks

...Transnistria - 1 Ruble 2019 Commemorative 25th Year of National Currency

Република Молдовеняскэ Нистрянэ
Приднестровская Молдавская Республика
Pridnestrovian Moldavian Republic

Transnistrian Republican Bank
Currency : Ruble (RUP)

This is a 1 ruble commemorative note issued on 20/12/2019, celebrating the 25th Anniversary of the Transnistrian Ruble currency (1994-2019). A total of 200,000 pieces have been issued with 2,500 pieces sold in a single folder as numismatic products.

Transnistria first introduced it's own currency on 22/08/1994.

This is the third time the central bank has issued banknotes commemorating the national currency. Unlike the previous two issues, the designs on this commemorative note is completely new on both sides and also with a new bank logo БаНК ПРИДНЕСТРОВЬR (BANK TRANSNISTRIA). This new note is also printed on a vertical format on both sides too.

Front - Portrait of General Alexander Vassilyevich Suvorav (1730 - 1800). General Suvorav was a Russian born military hero holding the rank of Field Marshal Generalissimo. He was the fourth Generalissimo of Russia;
Back - the Bender (Bendery) fortress built in the 16th century, Bridge Bender Tramsmistria Moldova over the Dniester River, the stylised skeleton of a chapel with a bronze bell (Bendery's War memorial) built in memory of those killed during the 1992 civil war conflict between the Moldovan government and the Pridnestrovian Moldavian Republic (PMR), the Transnistrian Republic Bank. The commemorative texts of "25 ЛЕТ ПРИДНЕСТРОВСКОМУ РУБЛЮ" (25 YEARS OF TRANSNISTRIAN RUBLE) is printed on the bottom of the note.

The Transnistria ruble is not negotiable outside its territory. However for exchange rate purposes, the central bank pegged it's currency at US$1 = 16 rubles approximately. This 1 ruble is only worth just over US$0.062 cents.

Footnote:
1) I believe this commemorative series only printed with prefix HB with serial number starting with 1000001. It would be fair to say that the 2,500 sets of folder notes are issued with HB1000001 to HB1002500. If this is correct, the above note with serial number HB1003539 would be considered as a low numbered note. I am not sure if the letters HB have any meaning.

2) This is the third time commemorative notes have been issued to celebrate the Transnistria Ruble currency since 2009. No doubt there will be more to come in the future;

2009 - 10 rubles, 15th Year of National Currency
2014 - 1, 5, 10 and 25 rubles, 20th Year of National Currency
