Total commemorative banknotes issued is under 1,500 pieces. If you have achieved any figures close to this, then you are doing extremely well, as many of the older commemorative notes are hard to find even in poor conditions.

Opinion: Many collectors of commemorative banknotes would have come across with those Somaliland sets overprinted with gold and silver texts with the following wordings - 5th Anniversary of Independence 18 May 1996 [Sanad Gurade 5ee Gobanimadda 18 May 1996]. I believe these are "home made" (or fake) and not authorised by the central bank. My argument is simple. No central bank would have issued an overprint commemorative banknote that the texts are so large that it would cover the two signatures on the note as well as part of the serial numbers. Even if these are genuine notes, then these could be issued as souvenir sheets and not as legal tender. As I said before, this is my opinion. If you have paid top dollars for these, please think about my argument. There is always a sucker around the corner, including me of course!

Cambodia 20,000 Riels 2008 Coronation Commemorative

This note was issued to commemorate the coronation of King Norodom Sihamoni, the current King of Cambodia. King Norodom Sihamoni was born on 14.05.1953 and also the eldest son of the former King Norodom Sihanouk and Queen Norodom Monineath Sihanouk. He became king of Cambodia on 14.05.2004 following the surprise abdication of his father King Norodom Sihamoni a week earlier. Prior to his accession to the thrown, he was the Cambodia ambassador to UNESCO since 1993.Add Image

This note was released on 17.01.2011 to commemorate the 7th Asian Winter Games that held between 30.01.2011 to 06.02.2011 in Astana and Almaty, Kazakhstan. This is the first time that Kazakhstan staged such a major event since gaining independence from the Soviet Union in early 1990s. The game was awarded to Kazakhstan in Kuwait on 04.03.2006.

Circulation: 20 000 000 banknotes.

This note was issued to commemorate the 60th Anniversary of the Central Bank of Sri Lanka. The founder governor was John Exter, an American Economist. The bank, initially known as Central Bank of Ceylon, commenced operations on 28.8.1950 and renamed its name to Central Bank of Sri Lanka in 1985.

This is a new series of banknotes issued in 2011. A full set consists of 6 notes from 20 to 5000 rupees. This set was issued in a folder and all serial numbers are matching - 005344. These notes are all dated 01.01.2010 but were issued in 2011.

This is a millennium folder note issued in 2000. In addition to the millennium celebration, this note also celebrates 1000th year of Hungarian State. It was reported that 600,000 of these were released. Plenty to share around if you have not go one yet.
